Practice the calculations for preparing a standard solution.

Calculate the concentration of oxalic acid to be used in your titration.
What should be the concentration of the oxalic acid for 25.00 mL of it to react completely with 25 mL of 0.01 M KMnO4 solution?

Preparation of the Sodium Oxalate Standard Solution.
What mass of sodium oxalate needs to be weighed out to prepare 250.0 mL of the standard solution?

Practice the titration to determine the concentration of an unknown KMnO4 solution. (2 marks)

Practice the titration procedure and calculations by performing a virtual titration.
          - Successful completion of this activity should be printed and turned in to your TA for 2 marks.
          - Walkthrough video provides a brief introduction to using the virtual lab simulation.
          - Note: This activity includes a set of standard sodium oxalate solutions that have already been prepared for you

Note: you may need to install the Java J2SE JRE for the online laboratory to run correctly on your computer. Macintosh users, please use Safari web browser to complete this activity.

If you cannot load the Virtual Lab program on your computer, you may use one of the laboratory computers (Rooms 370 and 372) between 12:30 and 2:00 Tuesday through Friday.
